Consolidated Telephone Construction & Maintenance 3 Box Wall Telephone with Marked Blake Transmitter & Bell Receiver There is a single red strip long pole receiver marked on top “Bell Telephone Manufacturing Company”. The Bell Telephone Manufacturing Company was organized in 1882 in Antwrep Belgium. It was jointly owned by Bell Telephone (USA) and Western Electric until 1890 when Western Electric took full owner ship. Bell Telephone Manufacturing Co. also made Blake transmitters. This long pole receiver is marked around the top of the receiver: BELL TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING COMPANY A 440 The Blake transmitter is marked: MANUFACTURED BY THE CONSOLIDATED TELEPHONE CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE Co LD FARRINGDON RD LONDON ED The Consolidated Telephone Construction & Maintenance Co made telephones in England under the license from the National Telephone (UK) and Western Electric Companies using the Bell Telephone Co. (UK) patents. The top box has a decal which reads: MANUFACTURED BY THE CONSOLIDATED TELEPHONE CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE Co LD TELEPHONE & ELECTRICAL WORKS FARRINGDON RD LONDON ED Complete mahogany 3 box wall telephone in excellent condition. The receiver hangs from the switch hook arm by a large eyelet the is mounted to the top of the receiver. The nickel on the telephone parts has some wear but is in good condition. The top box is stamped “6635” on the lower left corner and P.M.G. on the right corner. P.M.G. identifies that the top box meets the British Post Office telephone manufacturing standards based on Bell Telephone patents. The bottom box is split and takes a single battery jar and in excellent condition. The phone is 31 ½” tall and 7 ¾” wide. This is an excellent addition to any telephone collection. FOR SALE $2,400 |
