This D mount with a dial lock mechanism was auctioned today at the Art Astor Classics Museum. All the telephone items in the Astor Classics collection used to belong to one collector. I went there with the hope of winning one or two items that I don't have. All of the collection was not up for auction. The owner, Art Astor, held back a large number of primo items to display in a smaller collection of vintage cars and memorabilia that he will establish once the items sold today and over the next two days are moved out by the new owners. I WAS ASTOUNDED AT THE HIGH PRICES THAT WERE PAID FOR MANY OF THE ITEMS SOLD TODAY, INCLUDING THIS PHONE. This phone went for $1,450 plus 15% buyer's fee plus sales tax. I have one and was hoping to purchase this one to use in a trade. Go on the web to RMAuctions, and click on "Lot List" in the upper right. On the next screen, there is paragraph at the top with categories of memorabilia and "telephones" is right in the middle. Click on it to view three pages of telephone items sold today and more to be sold 6/28-29. I bid on several items but all of them went well above my price cap. |
